If you are displaying the work as your work, you are in effect making an editing choice. This is not new to photography, those frustrating mistakes can end up happy accidents.
I am now wondering what I would have made of the photos if you hadn't told us the photos were the result of a mistake. My first thought before I read your notes was the black was a very close out of focus curtain.

I like the light/dark cut in the picture.

I think it's the happy ending of the mishap that is immortalized in these pictures. The few successful shots in the series are all the more valuable because of it.
